The first is a $29,000 grant from United Way. This will be used by Community Link to expand capacity of the Ada Jenkins Center, Salvation Army Statesville Corps., Mooresville Christian Mission, and other human service agencies in Iredell County, by adding intensive casework and supportive housing services to help struggling families achieve housing & economic independence. The second grant, awarded by the Uptown Rotary Club of Charlotte, will be used to subsidize security deposits for working homeless families who will now be able to obtain affordable rental housing. These gifts will help kick-start the process of breaking the cycle of poverty for several of the areas working homeless families.
